That is why hosing the lawn makes the smell worse rather than better. You are not washing anything away; you are rehydrating a crystal bed and restarting the reaction. The smell spikes for a day, the water evaporates, the crystals re-form, and nothing has changed.
Bio-enzymatic treatment is the only widely available approach that removes the crystals rather than masking, diluting, or covering them. Live cultures digest uric acid into odourless compounds.
