Artificial turf does not host bacteria the way soil does, which is one of its advantages. What it does host is everything that lands on it and stays: skin cells, food residue from the patio, pollen blown off the Mojave in spring, and bacteria carried in on shoes and paws. Infill holds it all at ground level, which is where small children and dogs spend their time.
What lives in the infill
Spring in the Las Vegas valley loads every horizontal surface with olive, mulberry, and ragweed pollen. On a natural lawn it decomposes. On turf it accumulates in the infill and gets kicked back up every time somebody walks across it.
Food and drink residue from patio use feeds bacterial growth, particularly on turf running right up against an outdoor kitchen or bar, which is most of Anthem and Seven Hills.
Shaded turf on the north side of a house dries slowly and can develop mildew at the backing, which reads as a musty smell that has nothing to do with pets.

Is sanitizing different from deep cleaning?
Yes, and they solve different problems. Deep cleaning is mechanical: it removes what is physically in the lawn. Sanitizing is chemical: it kills what is living in it. Most households book them together because doing the second without the first just sanitizes the dirt.
Is it safe for kids and pets?
Yes. Everything we apply is non-toxic and pet-safe, and we time the visit so the lawn is dry and clear before the household needs it back.
Will it hurt my plants?
No. Runoff at the perimeter is at concentrations that will not harm the desert-adapted planting in most Henderson yards. We still rinse adjacent beds as a matter of course.
