The per-visit discount is not the argument. A restoration clean on a neglected pet lawn costs two to three times a maintenance visit and often needs a second pass. Turf that is allowed to compact and hold standing water frequently falls outside its manufacturer warranty conditions. Against a Henderson replacement cost of four to twelve dollars a square foot, maintenance is the difference between a fifteen-year lawn and an eight-year one.
04What moves a quoteFour variables
Why we will not price your lawn over the phone.
- Measured areaHomeowners underestimate turf area by roughly a third. A yard described as about five hundred feet is frequently seven hundred, and that is a different price.
- AccessA three-foot gate in the Water Street District, or stair-only terraces in MacDonald Highlands, means hand-carrying equipment and a longer visit. We quote that in advance rather than discovering it on the day.
- ConditionA lawn on a six-month schedule is a routine visit. A ten-year-old pet lawn that has never been serviced is a restoration and may need a second pass.
- Surface typeLandscape lawn, putting green, and pool-surround turf are three different jobs with three different methods. A property with all three is priced as three jobs.
05Quotes to walk away fromIndustry patterns
Five things that mean you are being set up.
- A firm price over the phone without a measurement. Nobody can price a lawn they have not seen. That number is going to move.
- A flat rate regardless of pets. Pet treatment is a real material and labour cost. Anyone including it free at any size is either not doing it or has priced it into an inflated base.
- Under $250 for a full service. That does not cover fuel, water, heated extraction, product, and the labour a real deep clean takes. It buys a rinse.
- Infill quoted without a depth check. Infill is sold by volume. The number was invented.
- Pressure to sign an annual contract on the first visit. Plans should earn the renewal each time. There is no reason for a term commitment on residential turf.
