What we see in Green Valley
Green Valley was the first master-planned community in Henderson and it has been filling in since 1978, which makes it the part of town where we see the oldest artificial turf in the valley. A meaningful share of the lawns here went in during the 2008-2014 drought-conversion wave, which means they are now ten to eighteen years old and running on original infill.
That age is the defining local factor. Turf at fifteen years is not usually worn out, but it is almost always starved of infill, compacted at the base, and matted in the traffic lanes. Homeowners here call us assuming they need a replacement quote and are generally surprised by how much of it comes back with extraction and a power broom.

Why turf behaves this way here.
- Mature tree canopyGreen Valley has real shade, which is rare in this valley. Ash, mulberry, and pine drop constant organic litter that mats into the infill and holds moisture at the backing. Shaded turf on the north side of these homes is where we find most of the mildew in Henderson.
- Original-install infill lossLawns installed a decade-plus ago have lost significant infill volume to migration and rinsing. Depth checks here regularly come back under half of spec, which is why the fibre is lying flat.
- Established irrigation oversprayOlder Green Valley landscaping was designed around lawn and has been retrofitted piecemeal. Drip and rotor heads watering the turf perimeter are common and are the usual reason for a weed line along one edge only.
- Mixed lot sizesQuarter-acre originals sit next to smaller infill product. Job sizing here varies more than anywhere else in Henderson, so we measure rather than quoting from an address.

Green Valley’s older installs are the hardest pet-odor cases in Henderson, because a decade of urine has had time to build salt load in infill that was never replenished. Pet urine and odor removal in Green Valley →
FAQGreen ValleyLocal questions
My Green Valley turf is fifteen years old. Is it worth cleaning or should I replace it?
Clean it first, then decide. Polyethylene turf fibre generally outlasts its infill by years, and most fifteen-year-old Green Valley lawns we see are matted from infill loss rather than worn out. We will do a depth check and show you the fibre condition before you spend anything on a replacement quote.
The turf under my ash tree smells musty and it is not the dog.
That is mildew at the backing, and it is the most common complaint we get from this neighbourhood specifically. Shaded turf plus constant leaf litter plus slow drying equals mildew. It clears with extraction and an antimicrobial pass, and it will come back unless the litter gets cleared more often than it currently is.
